The Basics: Definitions and Principles
A set of definitions, commonly used in consultation practice, has been identified to assist practitioners in developing their approach.

Seven principles that underpin good consultation practice have been identified. These include:

  • Focus
  • Inclusiveness, accessibility and diversity
  • Provision of information
  • Timing
  • Responsiveness and feedback
  • Evaluation
  • Reporting

Further details and checklists accompany each principle.
